The
author Mal Peet has won the 2004 Branford
Boase Award for his book 'Keeper' which was edited by Paul
Harrison of Walker Books.
At the Award ceremony at Walker Books on 30 June, Kevin
Brooks, winner of the 2003 Branford Boase Award, presented
Mal and Paul with specially engraved hand crafted silver-inlaid
boxes and certificates to mark their successful partnership.
The Judges have also awarded the Highly Commended category
to Laura Matthews for 'Fish' and her editor Rachel Wade
of Hodder.
The award is presented annually to the most promising book
for seven year-olds and upwards by a first-time novelist
and also marks the important contribution of the editor
in identifying and nurturing new talent.
