Madonna's Morality Tales

MadonnaPop star Madonna has revealed that her forthcoming children's books are "morality tales" based on the mystical Hebrew texts she studies.

The pop star recently signed a deal to write five books that will be based on the Kabbalah religion and says that the idea of writing the books was suggested to her by a Kabbalah teacher.

The star says she wanted to write something deeper than the other "vapid and vacant" titles for youngsters.

In an interview for satellite music channel she complained that most children's titles contain no lessons.

She landed a deal earlier this year but publisher Penguin would reveal no details of the contents although it was announced that the first of the five books will be called 'The English Roses'.

'The English Roses' will be published in hardback in September 2003.
