Camden Council's theme for Black History Month is literature
and the new gallery at the recently refurbished Swiss Cottage
Central Library is the venue for a unique exhibition of
images from contemporary children's literature, from books
by the Camden-based publisher Frances Lincoln and Tamarind
Books.
This
child-friendly exhibition includes various stages of work
from popular, award-winning fiction and non-fiction titles,
from first sketches to finished artwork or photographs.
Divided into four sections with a uniting theme, Frances
Lincoln presents: photographs by Ifeoma Onyefulu from her
photographic books including A is for Africa; watercolours
and work by Caroline Binch from Mary Hoffman's books featuring
Amazing Grace and Karin Littlewood's work, in all stages,
for Mary Hoffman's The Colour of Home.
One section focuses on Tamarind Books with a display of
original work from: The Life of Stephen Lawrence, the highly
acclaimed 'Black Profiles' series including an oil painting
by Chinwe Roy and art from popular picture books.
