Former children's laureate Anne Fine has been honoured
with an OBE for services to Literature.
Anne's first book, 'The Summer House Loon', was published
in 1978. Since then she has written nearly thirty books
including 'Flour Babies', 'Up On Cloud Nine' and 'Madame
Doubtfire' which was turned into the Hollywood film 'Mrs
Doubtfire' starring Robin Williams.
Anne has won numerous awards including the Carnegie Prize.
In 1990 and again in 1993 she was voted Publishing News'
Children's Author of the Year. She became the second Children's
Laureate between 2001 and 2003.
In addition to writing for children, she has also published
several highly acclaimed black comedies for adults.
Anne Fine has two grown up daughters and lives in County
Durham.
