Melvin Burgess signs with Puffin

Controversial children's author Melvin Burgess has signed a six figure deal with Puffin to publish 13 of his paperback titles including Junk, Bloodtide and his latest book, Lady. Puffin secured the rights to the books after an auction with Random House Children's books.

The deal has secured the rights to 13 books in Burgess' backlist and three new titles which will include a sequel to Bloodtide as well as the now infamous Knobby Book for Boys, provisionally entitled Doing It, due for hardback release from Anderson Press in spring 2003.

Burgess said that he was 'very pleased' to have signed a new three book deal with them saying that Puffin had 'looked after me very well for a long time now, been enthusiastic about the books and encouraging about the kind of thing I want to write.'
