Susanna
Gretz grew up in the USA, where she read English and American
Literature at Smith College. She has also studied at the
Werkkunstschule Offenbach, the Goethe University in Frankfurt
and the Institute of Education in London.
She has written and illustrated children's books since 1996
when her first teddy bear book was published Ernest Benn.
Through Ernest Benn began a long association with Alison
Sage with whom she has colIaborated on many teddy bear stories.
These stories have recently inspired the Teddybears series
on ITV.
Besides
teddy hears, Susanna uses pigs. crocodiles, squirrels, rabbits
and other creatures to portray human foibles. One of her
pig stories, It's your Turn, Roger!, won one
of the 1985 Smarties awards. She currentIy holds picture
book workshops in schools and libraries, as well as working
on new book projects of her own. You can read more about

Susanna lives in West london. She is involved in local environmental
projects, enjoys cycling and as many seaside visits as she
can possibly squeeze into her schedule.
