Ian
Whybrow recently gave up his job as a teacher to become
a full time writer. The most important thing to him in his
writing is that it reads aloud brilliantly and that there
is something in it for everyone - young and adult readers
as well. He is the author of the Harry series of
books and the Books
for Boys Series, all published by Hodder.
Ian
on himself…
I've spent most of my life teaching English and Drama and
written in the gaps. Running an English Department and a
Sixth Form have gradually become too much for me as my writing
has expanded and become more successful - so I've given
up teaching now to focus on writing - of all sorts not just
for children. I intend to write novels, plays and musicals,
as well as to try my hand at more script writing for TV.
(I have worked as a deck chair attendant, ice-cream salesman,
brewery worker, teacher of foreign students, travel guide,
waiter, builder, gardener and washer-upper.)
