Faustin Charles is an acclaimed and highly popular poet
and writer for children. The Selfish Crocodile is his first
picture book for Bloomsbury and he also has two poetry books
published: Once Upon an Animal and Teacher Alligator. Faustin
is mesmeric in performance and in demand for his events
in schools libraries and festivals.
Faustin was born and grew up in the rural countryside of
Trinidad, by the sea. From an early age, animals have always
been special to him and he was always fascinated by the
wild life on the land and in the sea. As a child, all of
Faustin's play, games, stories and songs reflected the landscape
and creatures around the village. He played with animals
belonging to his family and chased butterflies, hunted crabs,
deer and opossum, and also went fishing.
Faustin lives in London.
