Lee
writes contemporary teenage fiction, and does school visits
geared at students in Years 6-9. Her visits normally take
the format of first a brief talk about the writing process,
where ideas come from, how many drafts a story might go
through, etc.
This is a lively talk with lots of feedback from the kids;
the purpose of it is to demystify the writing process, and
illustrate that writing is an attainable goal - all you
really need are imagination and a love of stories.
Lee usually does up to 5 sessions a day, with groups of
around 30 children maximum. It's common for two schools,
or a school and a local library, to share my costs for the
day.
In the second half, Lee runs a writing workshop where the
students and her plan a story together from start to finish.
Again, this is a very lively process, with students normally
becoming very involved in the process!
Lee lives in Basingstoke, Hampshire, and is happy to travel
any reasonable distance. School visits are normally 'day
trips' for me, though overnight would not be out of the
question. I normally do ask for reimbursement for travel.

Appraisals
We enjoyed your visit enormously, and were impressed by
the ease with which you established such a good rapport
with the pupils.
I have seen some of them today and they all had only positive
things to say about the experience - and at Year 9, if they
had not enjoyed it - or,worse still been bored - they would
certainly have told me! Well done.
