James Carter
James Carter was a breath of fresh air... He changed the children's concept of poetry and poets. The children were enthralled by his unique approach

James is the author of several books including 'Cars Stars Electric Guitars', a collection of his poetry, 'Talking Books' and 'Creating Writers', both books about the process of writing, and has also been included in over 50 poetry anthologies.

James visits primary and secondary schools, libraries and literary festivals to give performances of his poetry (with music) and to conduct poetry writing workshops.

He also lectures in creative writing and children's literature on the BA.ED degree in the School of Education at the University of Reading as well as running INSET courses in writing and performing poetry at KS2.

Other notable work includes working as the Poetry Workshop Leader at the Barbican Dreamscapes Millennium Project as well as Workshop Leader on a tour of WOMAD festivals around the UK.

His academic credentials include Degrees in Primary Education with English - B.Ed (Hons) - and Children’s Literature MA - (with distinction) - both from the University of Reading.

James was the winner of the 2001 Raymond Wilson children’s poetry competition.
